Every year in the fall, we take the kids to the pumpkin patch. I really think picking out pumpkins for jack-o-lanterns and weaving through corn mazes are what childhood memories are made of.
This year, we decided to go super early to avoid the crowds. We drove out to a somewhat local apple orchard that also has a corn maze and pumpkin patch called Taves Family Farm Apple Barn and spent the whole day enjoying their amenities.
We petted and feed goats, picked pumpkins from the patch, rode on the hay ride, bounced on a giant bouncing pillow (while the little boy watched from the shade), zipped through a zip line and picked apples from trees.
This picturesque orchard has so many fun things to do we spent the whole day there and only left because they were closing.
Every Friday is family day and this day is really important to me. It’s a time where we are together doing fun things and spending quality time with each other. It’s a day where I’m present and unplugged.
As we were leaving, the sun was giving us the most amazing light and I had to grab the little girl for some photos. Since the little girl didn’t have a nap that day, I had to pull out all my tricks including bribery to get these shots.
And note to self, next time when you know you’ll be taking lots of pictures, tactfully convince your children to wear plain clothing. If worse comes to worse, have them wear their clothes inside out so the big animated cat won’t distract you from the cute little girl.
ps – if you look carefully, the goat on the pedestal was making faces at us
