One of the activities on our Summer Bucket List is to make homemade play dough.
Making play dough is one of those activities for kids that is super easy and super simple to do. Most of the ingredients in the recipe are ones you already have in your home. From start to finish, it took a whole 10 minutes. Thats including doing the dishes!
The little girl is going through a pink/red phase so everything needs to be one of those colours. We used Cherry Kool Aid to make our dough red. I don’t know what’s in this stuff aside from sugar and food colouring but it smells heavenly and it makes it that much more fun!
After some mixing and kneading, the mixture came together and formed the softest, most fragrant pliable dough.
This homemade playdough recipe is actually edible which is great for kids since they’ll gobble up anything that smells good but I wouldn’t recommend eating it…we tried and spat it back out right away. It doesn’t taste how it smells.
With some cookie cutters and existing toys, this super easy kids activity kept the little girl busy for more than 2 hours over the next few days.
The ingredients for this homemade dough cost less than $1.50 to make so this activity cost $0.75 an hour. Definitely got a good ROI here =)
