Welcome to Photography Tips From The Pros!
This is a new feature to showcase some amazing photographers out there and share with you some of their best photography tips!
I’m so excited to introduce my good friend Misha Hettie to you!
Misha and I ‘met’ a few years back while doing the same business coaching course and we just clicked (maybe it’s because she has pink hair and I love pink…but don’t have to guts to dye my hair that colour).
This girl is one multi talented lady. Aside from being a photographer, she also loves interior design and helped me design my whole office =)
Misha is also the pretty face behind Photographie J’adore where beautiful, inspirational and lovely photographic art are curated. Make sure to head on over to get some photographic eye candy.
And so, here’s Misha.
I’m Misha Hettie – a photographer in Orange County, California. I’ve got a great husband, three kids and a bad habit of photographing just about everything I eat.
Like most 70’s and 80’s kids, I have a few small photos from my childhood that I just adore and will keep forever. My absolute favorites aren’t the matchy-matchy Sunday Best ones from Olan Mills, though – they’re the ones of my brothers and sisters and I just playing and getting crazy messy. When I had kids of my own, I knew I needed to make sure to get those lifestyle photos so that my littles would have keepsakes they could enjoy and share when they’re adults, too. Here’s a strange thought – the photo you take of your child today could be enjoyed for literally decades to come, especially if we still have #throwbackthursday in the future!
When I’m not blogging, eating, or chasing my own children, I’m photographing high school seniors, women who need a bit of glamour in their lives and families in their natural habitats.
My sons Beckett and Grey are obsessed with my husband’s motorcycle – they think it’s the coolest thing ever. I took the idea of a little man with a motorcycle and styled a simple session for them. I drove out into the countryside to find the perfect location days in advance. Then I found Mexican Coke in bottles and classic aviator sunglasses. This is how it all came together.
I love this image for two reasons – one, because I thought it through and my vision came together perfectly. The second (and more important) reason is that I feel like I can see a glimpse of the grown man that Grey will become.
Best Photography Tip
Just SAY NO to “Say Cheese!”
No, really. When your child is engaged and having fun, the real smiles and laughter will be better than any fake grin.
